The Lady Or The Tiger? by Frank Stockton

In the very olden time there lived a semi-barbaric king, whose ideas, though somewhat polished and sharpened by the progressiveness of distant Latin neighbors, were still large, florid, and untrammeled, as became the half of him which was barbaric. He was a man of exuberant fancy, and, withal, of an authority so irresistible that, at his will, he turned his varied fancies into facts. He was greatly given to self-communing, and, when he and himself agreed upon anything, the thing was done. When every member of his domestic and political systems moved smoothly in its appointed course, his nature was bland and genial; but, whenever there was a little hitch, and some of his orbs got out of their orbits, he was blander and more genial still, for nothing pleased him so much as to make the crooked straight and crush down uneven places. Appoinment with by Love S. I Kishnor

Six minutes to six, said the great round clock over the information booth in Grand Central Station. The tall young Army lieutenant who had just come from the direction of the tracks lifted his sunburned face, and his eyes narrowed to note the exact time. His heart was pounding with a beat that shocked him because he could not control it. In six minutes, he would see the woman he had never seen, yet whose written words had been with him and sustained him unfailingly. Read more…

Introduction of The Guest Speaker

This introduction was given by PROF. JESSICA OSING, Guidance Coordinator of the WMSU-ILS High School Department during the General PTCA dated July 21, 2011.

This day will be noted us to be one of those rare and wonderful moments because of our invited guest. Her name echoes the essence of service, dedication and compassion.

Her achievements even when she was still students are truly commendable as they mirror her great sense of commitment, hard work and passion. Her non-compliance to mediocrity made an indelible mark in the history of our university when she graduated as the First “Summa Cum Laude” in year 1972.

Bold-spirited, she hurdled countless challenges in her professional career. Hence, in year 1983, she earned her degree of Doctor of Education from the University of the Philippines, Diliman Campus with her dissertation entitled “Dimensions of Academic Freedom among Social Science Faculty of Higher Education Institutions in Metro Manila.”

Her portfolio of Professional Development and Training is fascinating as each experience gives life to her being a woman for others and a woman of God. To name a few, she had a training in Moral Development and Education in the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, USA. She is also a part of the group study Exchange Program to North New Jersey,USA. In 2006, our speaker had a training in fund-raising and communication at the University of Tunku Abdul Rahman,Petaling Jaya,Malaysia.

She is a precious gem of the University. She has held various positions from being a director, dean, vice-president and eventually President of this institution.

Being a mother of three equally gifted children is a glory she always keep. Undoubtedly, she is a loving wife and a praise-worthy homemaker.

A woman I personally admire because of her wisdom, generous heart, caring spirit and unconquerable principle.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Grace C. Jimeno-Rebollos.

Accepting A Challenge

This speech of acceptance was given by Ms. Mary Rose Castillo, Faculty President, of Talon-Talon National High School during their Mass Induction. No Rights Reserved. Please comment.

Leaders are measured not by their ability to give commands, but by their courage to stand by sound principles at all cost.

                (Greetings)

Indeed, when one is entrusted to hold office or lead a group, one, for many, is a leader. Yet, time and again, we are reminded that it is never about the title as there countless individuals who care much for titles of a leader but fall short of the action of a leader. Many are leaders by name and not by essence.

With this premise, a great challenge is laid before all leaders newly inducted today – be it of the studentry and of the faculty. The challenge of having the definition of leadership defined not only in dictionaries but more greatly in the practice and fulfilment of our held positions for the betterment of all those whose trusts made us leaders.

Let us be living proofs that true leadership do exist. With God’s grace, Yes WE CAN!
