Subject : Appeal to Reconsider the Status of Payment
Date: : September 9, 2011
Briefly, I am mother to 5 children who, most of them are dependent to me still. I along with my husband struggle to meet the needs of our children through the bitterest of economic circumstances. Despite the meagreness of our income, we religiously pay our monthly amortization to Mrs. Orange Chua, the then President of the Association. We deemed the need to sacrifice some personal needs necessary just to pay the same as it would be the wisest thing to do.
Yet, with much sadness our sacrifices bore no fruit when we were informed that our payments were not remitted. We felt that there was great sense of injustice done against us. We did not seek legal actions as the said would be futile and will just cause additional burden to our family. Thus, though we were shaken to the core, we had no option but seek for remedy, because we believed that sins will soon boomerang.
I asked my son, who is a plain teacher of DepEd, to loan an amount to pay our declared delinquency. The said loan will cause the family to be constrained in many aspect as such is the only concrete income the family depends on. It is from that amount we cut the payments for all of our bills and for our food. But, we decided again as a family that it is needed as we gave credence to the wisdom provided to us by the personnel of the satellite office, that if payment will be made soon no penalty will be charged. Thus, last March 2010, we made the payment in amount a bit more than Fifty two thousand pesos.
But, another blow of fate hit us once more. We were informed that the amount we gave will just go to pay just the penalty, which was very contradictory to the ideas expressed to us. This was too much to take and too much to understand. I can’t help but feel that we, being poor and seemingly helpless, are stepped on – perhaps by manoeuvred chance or circumstance.
The loan made the day to day living difficult for us, because of the big deduction made to my son’s salary. I and my husband, aged by time and ridden by sickness, could no longer work for our family, thus we can provide no income which could augment that of my son’s. Consequently, I and my husband have deprived ourselves from taking our prescribed medication for the reason that the family’s income is hardly enough to meet our daily need for food.
I am writing this letter to seek not only sympathy, but also assistance especially to us “little people” of the community. We are left with no hope aside from trusting the good Lord that help will be given to us through righteous and wisdom-filled people. Sir, with fervent prayers, we hope that you will open your heart and find the generosity to work for our welfare and our family despite not knowing who we are. Many discouraged us in writing as they believed that no man would understand us. But, our trust that there remain good people made us courageous in doing this. Further, hearing your good reputation gave us greater hope that there remain a light at the end of this dark tunnel.
Sir, the Lord shall repay you in many ways as you consider the least of your brethren in the Lord. We hope that you will act on our request the soonest possible you can. God bless you and the people you loved most.
